Sam Smith (Olympic Distance athlete)

My name is Sam Smith and I am a senior at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado. I have been racing triathlons since the age of 9 and absolutely love everything about the sport. In high school I ran Cross Country and put triathlon on the back burner for a few years. After finishing high school and moving on to college, triathlon moved back to the main focus of my life.

As I continued through school my motivation and desire to be more competitive in the sport grew. I finished the 2015 USAT Collegiate National Championship (olympic distance) with my fastest time ever. I was happy but wanted more. I knew to reach the next level I needed a coach to help me.

I wanted a professional triathlete racing Olympic distance with lots of experience racing and coaching to guide my training and I have found all of that and more with Dylan. Before hiring Dylan, I was training with high volume and intensity but was lacking consistency and felt my efforts to improve one discipline would have the opposite affect on the other 2 disciplines. Now with Dylan's help my training has become consistent and precise. Together we are honing in on the best training regiment for me and what makes me perform the best. Not only that, but having Dylan to plan all of my workouts opens up a surprisingly large amount of time for me to focus on work and being a full time engineering student.

With Dylan I have set my goal as breaking 2 hours for the olympic triathlon at the 2016 USAT Collegiate National Championships in April of 2016.
